Looking back at 2014

william Blog, Uncategorised

Well here we are, in 2015! Another year has crept upon us, so I thought I’d just write a little blog about all the good things 2014 had and hopefully what 2015 has instore!

One highlight of 2014 was attending the Professional Beauty Awards as a finalist in the “Makeup Professional Category”. Unfortunately, I didn’t take home the prize but it was an great evening and an amazing process to be involved with. Being acknowledged by the Professional Beauty team for my makeup work was a real privilege.

Another big highlight for me in 2014 was becoming involved with the charity “Look Good Feel Better”. This amazing charity was set up to help boost confidence of women suffering with cancer. Women suffer many side effects whilst going through treatment, such as loosing their hair, brows & eyelashes and changes in their skin. LGFB is dedicated in helping woman improve their self-esteem during such difficult times by offering free makeup & skincare lessons. All attendees receive a big bag of donated goodies and makeup artists, like myself, share skills on how they can make themselves feel more like they did before cancer.

It is a wonderfully fulfilling charity to be involved with and I try to volunteer as much as I can at my local hospital, Mount Vernon. We have a lovely team there, who are a real joy to work with and nothing is more pleasurable than seeing the attendees leaving with big smiles on their faces at the end! I really do encourage all makeup artists to get involved, as all they ask for is your skills and a couple of hours of your day. For information, visit their website www.lookgoodfeelbetter.co.uk

One of the most fun jobs I did in 2014, was working backstage at the Victoria Secret show. It was the first time it had been held in London and it was a really exciting event to be involved with. I assisted the fabulous Maria Comparetto and we had a great time working at the show!

I was also very pleased to attend a MAC seminar at the end of the year with makeup hero, Andrew Gallimore. He is such a massive inspiration and his work really is magnificent. Seeing him work live infront of me was a brillant experience! He did three completey different looks, all of which were beautiful. He’s just published a wonderful book of his work, which I was lucky enough to receive as a Christmas gift. It’s gorgeous and I throughly recommend all makeup addicts picking up a copy.

So, that was some of my favourite moments of 2014! I can’t wait to see what this year brings and am looking forward to the adventure ahead
