John Lewis VIP Fashion Show

Last week, I was invited to be the Lead Make-up artist at the John Lewis VIP Fashion Show at their flagship store, Oxford Circus. The store was holding fashion shows throughout the day and the theme was “Fantasy”. The outfits chosen were all based around fairytale characters, such as Alice in Wonderland. We wanted to incorporate the theme through the hair and make-up so I worked alongside my fave hair stylist, Eugene Davies to create the looks.

The models were divided into two groups of “Light” and “Dark” so I decided to create looks maintained the same eye shape but in different colours. This was to create a uniformed look between the models but also allow the audience to see the theme of Light & Dark. We were kindly sponsored by NARS, who provided us beautiful products. I chose colours that were high in metallic pigments and shimmer to help emphasis the “Fantasy” theme. As the catwalk was surrounded by silver Christmas trees, the metallics also tied in with the Christmas feel of the whole show.

We had 22 models so it was a hectic morning but I had fantastic help from two of Nars’ international artists and also an additional make-up artist. We also had the whole of the Freelance the Workspace Team on board, which included the amazing Pebbles Aikens with her team creating fantastic nail designs and of course, Eugene and his team creating beautiful textures throughout the model’s hair.

It was a great day and lots of fun to be involved with.

Here’s a little film of the day:
